This week we dug deep for horror fans that like to dig the deepest and find the weirdest and sometimes the most inspiring movies of the bunch. We are talking SOV or Shoestring backyard budget horror films. Ones that even caught the ire of the Video nasties list in England. Ones that have Zombies in dream sequences and so much more. These are the GET OUT THERE AND MAKE A DANG MOVIE type of movies from the 80's. We kick it off with SUFFER LITTLE CHILDREN (1983) which is a movie that an entire kids drama class made with a guy who used to be a rock star promoter in the UK! It about a mute demonic girl that causes an entire orphanage to go crazy and attack everyone. Then we review the movie The Soultangler (1987) which is actually shot on 16mm but on very low budget and shot in a week! About a mad scientist who has developed a drug that can transcend reality and let you jump between bodies of the living or the dead. A movie that has some of the FX from Street Trash! JOIN US!
FULCI LIVES! and Alex will never let him die. That's why this week we tackle two newer movies from one of the Italian Masters catalog. AENIGMA (1987). After a prank goes wrong on an unsuspecting girl she's hospitalized with the powers of the DEVIL and exacts her revenge on all her friends. Then we talk about DEMONIA (1990). An archaeological team unearth a towns secret that unleashes the spirits of 5 demonic nuns who were murdered 500 years ago. It's all here in this weeks episode!
We were looking for some blood, guts & WTF this week and we found it. We picked two movies. INVASION OF THE BLOOD FARMERS (1972) about a group of space druids who take over a small town in New York and harvest their blood for their 300 year old sleeping Queen. Then we watched SPLATTER FARM (1987) directed by 3 people, who also starred in the film and later became SOV (shot on video) legends for it. The first distributed film by the Polonia Brothers known for their get it done quick. About a 2 brothers who visit their Aunts farm when her handyman goes on a killing spree dismembering his victims. All this in one episode. We talk trivia, scenes and bad jokes.
This week we grab two Italian horror movies written by the master Lucio Fulci. Voices From Beyond (1991) a supernatural who dunnit directed by Fulci as well. Then we dive into The Wax Mask (1997) a movie that came out after Fulci passed away that Dario Argento and him worked on. These were some of of his last works. Lots of trivia on these ones. One of our favorite sub genres is back with two Italian (zombie?) Horror movies from the 80s! Lucio Fulci's own Zombie 3 and Claudio Fragasso's Zombie 4 After Death. Two movies that should be paired together but not because of the story. In fact these two movies have very little to do with each other or their very successful masterpiece Zombie 2 aka Lucio Fulci's “Zombie” (1979). We dive mouth first into a pile of flesh to cover all the trivia and background on both these films. There is plenty of fun trivia on these movies while we break down our thoughts on each and which movie beats the other. It's a schlock down of zombie proportions.
