This week is all about the 80's and Murderous Robots and Infected Crickets. Both of these films are pretty ridiculous but it wouldn't be a BTV episode if we didn't pick some fun ones. This week we review DEADLY FRIEND (1986) About a boy who's a computer genius and saves his gf's life by putting a robots chip inside her brain. Directed by Wed Craven? Yep. Then we review BLUE MONKEY (1987) about a giant volcano cricket that is infected and spreads throughout an entire hospital and procreates for hundreds of murderous crickets. It's MVD Entertainment TIME! They Sent us out a few movies to review and we jumped in feet first. This week we watch a few 80's films that you may or may not have heard of. DEADLY GAMES (1982) Where a masked killer picks off a bunch of sex crazed middle aged friends one by one. Then we review Surf Nazis Must Die (1987) Where a gang of Nazi Surf Punks are trying to take over the beaches. That is until they kill big mommas son in the process.. This old lady takes out her revenge on them one by bloody one. That's right two completely different movie we couldn't wait to jump into. Time to dip into some more unknown 2000's horror films that have a pretty big story to tell on a budget. That's right it's time for the stinky boy REEKER (2005) about a supernatural killer that kills off a whole bunch of kids at a hotel one night. A later slasher that ain't too bad? Find out! Then since we never got the chance to see it we picked up the sequel called NO MAN's LAN: Rise of the Reeker (2008). That tells the origins of REEKER and why he is doing what he does. It's VALENTINES DAY! So we picked a couple heart felt horror movies for the season for our 269th episode! We take on X-ray (1981) About a killer surgeon that runs around a hospital killing people in bloody ridiculous ways. Then review the LoVe story Warm Bodies (1981) about a boy zombie falling in love with a living girl. Bleeeeeechhhh. That's Christina holding back her vomit. She also spends half the episode with hiccups. So, you all should be super excited. Plus, this episode is filled to the brim with a lot of horror love. JOIN US!
This week we take a few adventures with Eddie Murphy & Chuck Norris to the dark side.. That's right a little something different for this week. We review The Golden Child (1986) where Eddie Murphy is tasked with rescuing a child from Tibet from demonic forces that want to rule the world. Then we watched Hellbound (1994) about Chuck Norris who plays FRANK SHATTER (echo) who tracks down an ancient evil with his trusty sidekick Calvin Jackson. Together can they save the world? Together can these actors save the podcast??? Good question. Plus, we talk about a new show that is out on Travel Channel called Vampires in America that is a bit concerning. JOIN US!
It's the final episode of our FOLK OFF Special! You guys picked we watched and reviewed both movies. The Wicker Man (1973) & A Dark Song (2016). Both on Shudder's Folk Horror Section. We start with The Wicker Man that undoubtedly inspired Midsommar to some degree. About a virgin police officer who goes to an island in search of a missing child. He starts to realize the people around him have some very strange customs. Then we dive into a indie film that is from recent times called A Dark Song. About a woman who hires a man to perform an ancient ritual to get what they want. Only things turn pretty quickly into the supernatural very quickly. We had our fill of new movies this past week so we figured lets dive into some practically homemade films in the 80s! As you know Alex loves going back here often. This week we watch and review The Strangeness (1985) about a creature in a cave that eats people. When will people learn to leave caves and tentacles beasts in them alone?! Then we dive into THERES NOTHING OUT THERE! (1991) about a group of kids who visits a cabin in the summer and people start dying one by one to another creature? Maybe if they listened to their knowledgeable horror fan they brought. He seems to know what to do and not do in this situation. FINALLY! We return. It feels like it has been forever but after a month and the holidays we return for the Top 20 Horror Movies of 2021! That's right 20 movies that Alex finds to be the best this year. Christina returns too to help make the Alex medicine go down and gives her thoughts on some of the movies. It's the Holidays! So we picked a couple of cheery horror holidays flicks for you guys to watch! We kick it off with TO ALL A GOODNIGHT (1980) that's currently on Shudder now. A Santa slasher that a lot of people may have missed from back in the day. Santa is set loose on a school of girls and their boyfriends in this movie. Then we watched a holiday horror anthology called 13 Slays Till X-Mas (2020). This big anthology might not have the budget but it is packed to the brim with horror holiday segments that will tickle your holiday murder spirit. We tell you our thoughts on the anthology and then pick our top 4 picks each in the spoiler section. It's our last week before we go on a break for almost a month! Woof! This week on the show Christina and Alex talk about murderous dogs. Some cyborg some just cat haters. That's right this week is chock full of pups with blood on their fluffy coats. We review MANS BEST FRIEND (1993) about a genetically engineered dog that a reporter finds in a lab that she is doing an exposé on. It's a Tibetan Mastiff named Max that can climb trees, eat people and swallow cats whole. All while
Lance Henriksen yells at everyone. Then we review ROTTWEILER (2004) a Brian Yuzna film that not many have seen. Including ourselves. About a man who has so many flashbacks they imprison him and he dreams about a cyborg spirit dog that shares his soul and eats people with it's metal jaws. Or something like that. It really doesn't make a whole heck of a lot of sense. But listening to us break it down will probably make you want to watch it. So Join us and our own dog Murray as we bark our way through this one.
We return with something from Hong Kong? Yep two movies in a franchise of movies, shows and books called A Chinese Ghost Story. These movies we picked are comedy, horror, drama, romance with tons of Kung Fu action and some wild stuff. This week we review A Chinese Ghost Story (1987) about a you tax collector who stumbles upon a temple where a ghost lives. He doesn't realize this but he falls in love with her and doesn't realize the consequences of doing so. Then we continue the franchise with A Chinese Ghost Story 2 (1990) Which continues the adventures of Choi San going home only to find his town is over run by cannibals and is immediately mistaken for a criminal by roving law enforcement. He meets a woman strangely like the one he met in part 1. These movies were a lot of fun to watch and review this week. We hope you join us in these wild movies.
Time for a few silly movies that may tickle your fancy from the 80s. This week we watched Motel Hell (1980) About a brother and sisters who own a farm/hotel and not only are their accommodations lovely, but their smoked meats are divine. Say.. What is in this meat? Then we watch Slaughterhouse Rock (1987). A movie about a guy in college having some sleep issues and is haunted by an interdimensional being that looks like a vampire. We continue catching up on NEWER movies this week with Netflix's NIGHT TEETH (2021) which involves a young unsuspecting music maker who covers for his brothers limo service and gets wrapped up in 2 vampire girls adventures. Then we delve into the very strange, deep and disturbing film that has been making waves in the film festival circuit. TITANE (2021) About a woman who falls in love with her car physically and meets a man who lost his son 10 yr's prior. Yeah doesn't sound like much on the surface eh? lol. Trust us this is going to be a DEEP episode. That Alex loves to dig deep into. So buckle up, put on your thinking caps and let's GO!
As we are playing catch up we couldn't forget the New Candyman movie that came out this year. So we decided to make it a double feature with the original one since the new movie is a sequel. This week we review the classic 1992 movie w/ Tony Todd called Candyman. Has it held up, did we still enjoy it? Plus some trivia and discussion. Then we review the new highly anticipated sequel Candyman (2021). What we thought about the movie as a whole. Does it fit with the original and do we like it? Now that Halloween is over, we are playing catch up on some of the new movies we have not been able to catch and review! So this week we review Don't Breathe 2 (2021). The Blind man is back and he's got a whole new intruder, but is it everything we think it is? He teams up with a girl in this one. Then we picked OLD (2021) To review. Where a group of tourists go to a beach and realize that they are all getting older every second. In a day they will all be dead?! It's M. Knight Shyamalan's newest film.
