Layers of Fear 2 Revealed, Will Be Narrated By Candyman Tony Todd

001.jpg

Set on a desolate ship, Layers of Fear 2 will rely on the claustrophobic, ever-changing environments to keep players in the dark, never knowing what horror to expect around every corner and through every door. The feeling of uneasiness and terror will be enhanced by influences from classic cinematography ranging from the experimental works of Georges Méliès to the twists and turns used by Alfred Hitchcock.”

**** Kyle Laugh has been covering a lot of Georges Méliés’ work (in his History Of Horror Parts 1 through 3) whom some of the games aspects will be based around. These articles give you a better understanding of what you will mostly likely be exposed to when playing the game. So check them out.

James Karen, Actor in 'Poltergeist' and So Much More, Dies at 94

002.jpg

James Karen, the instantly recognizable character actor who moved the cemetery's headstones — but not the bodies — as the developer Mr. Teague in the modern horror classic Poltergeist, has died. He was 94.

The incredibly prolific Karen, who also was noteworthy in such films as The China Syndrome (1979) and The Return of the Living Dead (1985) and on the finale of NBC's Little House on the Prairie — he's the dastardly reason the town of Walnut Grove was blown up — died Tuesday at his Los Angeles home, his wife, Alba, said.

Orion Sets Roxanne Benjamin For Remake Of Cult Horror-Comedy ‘Night Of The Comet’

003.jpg

The cult original followed two sisters facing off against cannibal zombies after a comet wipes out most of life on Earth. The film and its female protagonists hit home with genre fans including Joss Whedon who credited it as one of the inspirations for Buffy Summers. The update will skew horror-sci-fi rather than comedy, I understand.

Thom Eberhardt wrote and directed the original, which starred Kelli Maroney, Robert Beltran and Catherine Mary Stewart. Made on a budget of under $1M it went on to make $14M in the U.S.

Peter Jackson and His Team are Fully Restoring ‘Dead Alive’ and ‘Bad Taste’ for 4K Releases!

004.jpg

Before going mainstream with the Lord of the Rings films, Peter Jackson was a horror guy, kick-starting his career with the gory flicks Dead Alive and Bad Taste. Despite being beloved by horror fans, neither film has to date been restored and re-released, but Jackson himself just revealed to Empire’s Film Podcast that 4K restorations are in the works!

“Anything from those films that is available is, like, 1990s Telecine things, which is the best that we had… compared now, they look bloody awful,” Jackson told the podcast. “I just haven’t re-released them because, if I do, I want them to look really good. We’ve actually done some experiments. They look bloody fantastic. They look like they’re shot on 35mm.”

Horror at the Box-Office

011.jpg

Halloween had another great weekend as they took in an additional $31 million dollars domestically, bringing their total up to $126 million. The film is not the highest ranking Horror-Slasher ever as it surpassed the previous first place holder, Scream whos lifetime pull was $103 million domestically. It doesn't look like it will be able to overtake the top spot in the rated R horror category which is held by last years IT, but with another semi solid week, it should rank up to 4th place overall.

Next week, Suspiria will be making its debut but I doubt it will even come close to making the impact that Halloween has due to a likely having a lower amount of opening theaters as well as the fact that it will be going up against Bohemian Rhapsody which is the Queen biopic. Regardless, i'm still intrigued to see what the film will be able to do.
