How the Official Novelization for ‘Halloween’ 2018 Expands and Enriches This Year’s Hit Sequel

002.jpg

I can already hear the rebuttals: But Mike, I shouldn’t have to read a book to get answers to questions or fix problems I have with a movie. No, you’re right, you shouldn’t have to. And you don’t have to. But it does help. Something I love about a movie novelization is its function to expand and enrich the narrative of a film. A movie is always subject to its post-production phase. Scenes are either dropped or reshot for a variety of reasons, be it time constraints, pacing problems… any number of issues. A novelization, however, is based on the screenplay (a particular draft or a number of drafts) and isn’t subject to any of those issues. Yes, an author has the freedom to embellish and expound upon characters, but you’ll also find scenes in there that were taken out of the finished film. We may not know what belonged to the screenwriters or what was simply an author’s take on the material unless the subsequent Blu-ray release contains deleted scenes; that being said, a novelization still gives us a broader take on the material and (possibly) the original intent of the filmmaker.

“I hope this video helps clear things up about the F13 lawsuit. If you have any other questions, just let us know. A lot of us reacted based on our emotions and targeted a man just fighting for his rights. It's time we stand up and do the right thing and stay together as a community.”

Satanists File $50M Lawsuit Against CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA Over Baphomet Statue

005.jpg

The Satanic Temple claims the show’s statue design is an appropriation of proprietary material, as they recently unveiled their own 9-foot statue of Baphomet. But the Temple’s gripe goes beyond copyright infringement; Satanic Temple Co-Founder Lucien Greaves feels the use of the Baphomet statue in Sabrina maligns the true nature of Satanism, calling the show “asinine Satanic Panic fiction.”

Horror at the Box-Office

Now that we’re heading full speed into the holiday season, the Box-Office is going to see a bit of a slump when it comes to our beloved genre. Although we have The Possession of Hannah Grace which will be premiering theatrically on November 30th, there isn’t much more to see in a large scale. The good news? Well we will be getting another slew of holiday related horror flicks which pertain to Christmas, Hanukkah and much much more!

With that said, we did have the premiere of Overlord over the weekend which unfortunately did not do as well as most were expecting considering the fantastic reviews it’s been getting from multiple horror reviewers and more. The film has taken the third spot on the top ranking list but has only been able to pull in a mere $10 million. Considering it was made on a budget of $38 million, the film has a ways to go in order to recoup its money, not to mention the money spent on advertising as well.

If you’re wondering why the film had done so poorly, it’s due to the release of the new Grinch movie which has been able to take in well over $66 million and last week’s top film, Bohemian Rhapsody, which had taking in an additional $30 million dollars domestically.

Suspiria is currently 22nd on the list (likely due to its minimal opening of 250 theaters), Halloween has dropped from 5 to 9 while Venom took the least amount of damage dropping from 6th to 8th.
