Filthy ‘The Happytime Murders’ Being Investigated a Week Later
The long-gestating, rated-R horror-comedy The Happytime Murders received quite a bit of hype out of the Las Vegas CinemaCon. After the trailer premiered, critics tweeted out rave reviews, declaring it an “instant cult classic,” and promising a slew of vulgarities and sexual situations. It’s the adult-themed puppet film we’ve been begging for since Peter Jackson corrupted our minds with his Meet the Feebles way back in 1989

Horror At The Box Office
We’re going to start with a few surprises. To begin, Hereditary was able to hold on to the 7th spot it fell into last week despite the film being dropped by a third of the theaters it had been playing in while The Rock’s Rampage made a massive comeback from the 23rd spot up to 12th with their only difference being the addition of three new theaters.
Now, in not so surprising news, Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom is the king of the box-office with an opening weekend of $150 million dollars domestically and is likely to stay in the top spot next week.

HORROR SHOP OF THE WEEK: PRIDE MONTH
This week, in honor of PRIDE Month, I’ll be spotlighting not one, but several wonderful shops doing something special this month to celebrate diversity and equality…while helping make the world a better place.
BATHNBODYMAGICK
BathNBodyMagick’s “Pride in the Bath” set is now sold out. But this specially curated box of bath goodies included products designed exclusively for PRIDE month. 10% of each box sold is being donated to the True Colors Fund, founded by artist Cyndi Lauper to benefit children and youth in the LGBT community and help battle homelessness. In fact, Crystal, the amazingly kind and generous shop owner, decided to donate a percentage of her ENTIRE income for the month to the worthy charity — not just proceeds from the box.
In case you missed it, I’ve previously talked about how much I absolutely adore this shop, and this is just one more reason why I’m a forever loyal and devoted customer. (http://www.bathnbodymagick.com/)
BOMB DIGGY BATH
Another praiseworthy indie bath company making a difference this month is Bomb Diggy Bath. All proceeds from their killer Freedom bath bomb (inspired by George Michael) will be donated to the True Colors Fund. (http://bombdiggybath.com/)
ONCE UPON A CANDLE
I haven’t had a chance to check out this shop yet, but I will definitely be fixing that shortly. Once Upon a Candle launched an amazing “Love is Love” collection that includes a candle and bath bomb. $1 from each Pride item sold will be donated to the SF LGBT Center during the month of June. SOOTHING SLOTH SOAP COMPANY
Soothing Sloth is another shop I’m just now discovering, but I love what I’m seeing. This queer owned and operated shop specializing in all natural, handmade bath products sells a special PRIDE bath bomb, with 50% of all proceeds going to the Greater Cleveland LGBT Community Center. This bath bomb creates a gorgeous shimmery rainbow of bath art and contains a refreshing blend of mint and lemongrass. (https://soothingsloth.com/)
VILLAINOUS WAX
Another one of my favorite shops, Villainous Wax, is launching a brand new wax collection on June 28th at 6 pm CST. The “Not to be Ignored” (PRIDE) Collection. 20% of the purchase price will be donated to the fantastic organization, The Trevor Project, focused on crisis intervention and suicide prevention in LGBT Youth. Head to the shop’s Instagram page @villainouwax to preview the scent list. If you’re a wax addict like me, I cannot recommend this shop highly enough. (https://villainouswax.bigcartel.com/)
TWISTED WONDERLAND PERFUMERY
I’ve spoken of my love for Twisted Wonderland Perfumery before, and here’s another reminder why this shop rules! The shop owner just added a spectacular new melt to the shop in honor of PRIDE Month. The “Unicorn Party” melt is a sweet and fruity blend combining Goji Berry, Blueberry, Ripe Red Raspberry, Pink Spun Sugar and Sweet Vanilla. It has a shimmery white base with rainbow colors throughout! (https://twistedwonderlandperfumery.bigcartel.com/)
STRANGE WAYS
Strange Ways is a curated shop showcasing unique and unusual items for your wardrobe and home, featuring work from more than 100 indie artists and designers. This small, queer-owned shop purposefully features gay makers all year round, and they have an amazing selection of items — like must have pins and patches — to help you express yourself and show your PRIDE. (https://www.strange-ways.com/)
GUTTER SHAKES
This bad ass pin company is launching an inaugural “Queer Horror” text pin, along with a pink glitter variant of two of their most popular pins: Casey Becker and Psycho Killer. Speaking with the shop owner, I was told, “I want to explore the relationship between queerness and the horror genre, as a queer person who grew up loving horror movies.” Be sure to follow their Instagram page at @guttershakes for the product drop announcement coming soon!
