Brains are a delicacy in some countries... so I've heard, anyway. Some people, like the good-hearted Hannibal Lecter take it to extremes and serve an animal that's off limits to eat to most. That animal is people. While I never have and hopefully never will eat any brains, how can thousands of cannibals be wrong?

Here are the top 7 Brain Eating Scenes In Horror!

Spoilers Ahead!!!

#7 Return of thr living dead.gif

7. Return of the Living Living Dead (1985)

Let's start off simple with some nice appetizers. Dan O'Bannon's Return Of the Living Dead is known for starting the zombies eating brains craze. I mean... why wouldn't they if they're already eating every other part of the body. This movie highlighted the specifics of Brain Eating though. These zombies who also talk, give reason to this as the brains are basically a painkiller and the rotting corpses cease to suffer as long as they have their dose of brains each time they're itching for a fix.

Also, the brains in the movie were real calf brains the filmmakers bought. Director Dan O' Bannon ate some himself to ensure the extras they wouldn't be doing anything he wouldn't do himself. Fair guy he was.

#6 Stitches.gif

6. Stitches (2012)

This one stretches it just a tiny bit because the killa doesn't eat the brain, but, does scoop it out with an ice cream scoop, puts it in a bowl, and calls it food for thought. He literally does everything else to say it's food except eat it. I feel they should have had him take a quick bite just for good measure, I'm happy with what we got though.

5 Bad Taste.gif

5. Bad Taste (1987)

I had fun re-watching this bad motha fucka. Why Peter Jackson doesn't make Horror movies anymore is beyond any brain-eater, but, maybe he'll have a change of heart...or brain, one day. It was Jackson himself who dove in, spoon first, to this lunchable moment. He did a good job as a whacked-out fuckin loony. This movie is a bloody good time... the cousin of "Dead Alive".

#4 Brain Damage.gif

4. Brain Damage (1988)

Now, onto entrées. Here's a whole movie about a brain-eating parasite! I discovered this movie without any knowledge of it and I was a happy boy. Aylmer is a the parasite's name and he and our "hero" Brian strike a deal. Aylmer hits Brian with some euphoric juice directly to his brain, and Brian in return has to get some human victims for Aylmer to fancy feast on. Unless you don't t like any comedy with your Horror, I'd suggest finding a way to watch this movie... it may make your day.

#3 American Horror Story.gif

3. American Horror Story Season 1 Episode 6 (Murder House Season)

A memorable scene Hannibal would be proud of. Vivian is one of the main 3 characters that move in to the "Murder House". Hallucinations occur, shady rape, mysterious deaths, and eventually, some silliness towards the end. This is very high up on the list because Vivian truly digs into this delicious looking brain and make me want a piece.

#2 Hannibal.gif

2. Hannibal (2001)

The brain-eating scene known round the world... Hannibal. This is one of those scenes you know even if you've never seen the movie. "Scary Movie 2" parodied the scene so perfectly it should probably be on this list, too. Anthony Hopkins performed professionally in these scene. Ray Liotta sold the fuck outta this scene himself. He goes for that bite of his own brain like he hadn't eaten in weeks. Bravo, as always, to Hannibal the king of cannibals.

1. Cannibals Ferox (1981)

#1 Cannibal Ferox.gif

Now.. for the main course..."Cannibal Ferox" which translates to "Cannibal Ferocious" is the best of the best. The camera movement, the intelligence of having the victim (brain food) under the table, right down to the actual eating of the meal. Movies of this nature paved way for films like "The Green Inferno" one Eli Roth's best in my opinion. Cannibal movies that go this route as opposed to the Hannibal direction, feel grittier and more real. Kinda like a Horror Natural Geographic magazine come to life on the movie screen. Hooray for succulent brains!!!

I'm Dr.LoveGore signing off until next week, and may the brain power be with you.
