Jordan Peele In Talks To Produce Candyman Remake

Newbie Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele is sticking with the horror genre post-Get Out and has entered talks to produce a remake of Bernard Rose's cult classic 1992 Clive Barker adaptation, Candyman. Peele is currently shooting his new social thriller Us, but is lending his talents as a producer to several developing genre projects, including CBS All Access' Twilight Zone TV show reboot and HBO's horror-mystery series Lovecraft Country (which Peele co-created with Underground's Misha Green).

Rob Zombie's 13 Nights of Halloween returning to HDNet Movies

This time around, the small screen screaming will commence with Zombie’s own 2012 shocker The Lords of Salem and end on Halloween night itself with Flatliners. Inbetween, Zombie will introduce The Blair Witch Project, Book of Shadows: The Blair Witch 2, Zombie Strippers, The Fourth Kind, Pandorum, Bubba Ho-Tep, The Evil Dead, Natural Born Killers, The Eye, 1972’s The Last House on the Left, and Angel Heart.

Joe Bob Briggs Will Return to Shudder with Holiday Specials, Ongoing Series Planned for 2019

The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs was truly something special for horror fans, recreating the drive-in horror marathon for many people who've never had a chance to experience it. We're so happy that the event was a success, because that means more Joe Bob. Shudder just officially announced that he's back for Thanksgiving and Christmas specials, and there are plans for a regular series next year!

First Halloween Reactions Have Critics Cheering the Return of Michael Myers

The majority of the first reactions to David Gordon Green's Halloween are positive, with some that are very enthusiastic. Variety film critic Peter Debruge says, "David Gordon Green does horror fans a favor, bringing Michael Myers' slasher-movie saga back to its roots." Many are declaring that the new movie is the best since John Carpenter's original, which is something that the director has even claimed. Fans packed in the theater were cheering and shrieking, according to multiple accounts.

Horror At The Box Office

 

Although “The Meg” is still holding up strong, “The Nun” has taken over the boxoffice. It's not only taken in $53 million domestically , it’s also killing the international market as it’s brought in an additional $79 million bringing its total up to $133 million, $111 million over it’s $22 million dollar budget. It will be a surprise to nobody that a sequel will eventually be made. Just a matter of when it will happen.

Next to that, the following week, we’re looking at “The Predator” which is likely to pull “The Nun” down from the top spot.
